Health

In the beginning of June 2010, the budgies went for a check up at the Veterinary Hospital in Brunswick, Maine and saw Dr. Wood. They were deemed in good health and good weight, and will return in January or February for a pre-breeding checkup.

They are currently on Ivermectin Drops 0.1% for mite treatment. We do this as a precaution because like fleas, mites can become a big problem.

For beak and nail health, they have three cuttle bones in the cage at all times, along with a rope perch and natural tree branches to help avoid arthritis in the feet. The tree branches also help keep the nails trimmed.

In the cage there is also a lava rock and a calcium pineapple to help keep the beaks trimmed and healthy.

Diet

They are currently on an all natural seed diet with dried fruits and flowers. To go along with this, they have fresh millet spray, and plenty of cuttle bones. They also get a wide variety of fresh vegetables including but not limited to:
Collard Greens
Broccoli
Corn
Celery
Carrots
Boc Choy
Cilantro
And in addition to the vegetables, a fruit is given 1-2 times a week:
Banana
Pomegranate
Apple
Peach
Orange
Pineapple
Coconut (very very seldom)
